The planet Venus... I need to substantiate XP

Well I suppose if your reading this blog you would understand that Venus is a planet... good.... now I realize you haven't been completely informed on Venus, and her elationship with the other gods. I will show you hehehe.

The mythology of Venus is ancient with roots in Neolithic Greece.  She was called Eurynome, which means "wide wandering one". She was born of  primal Chaos, dancing on the water. Eurynome transformed the North Wind into  a serpent named Ophion. The serpent coiled himself around her, impregnated  her and she gave birth to the Cosmic Egg. Ophion wrapped himself around the  egg seven times and stayed until it hatched Creation.
As Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, she is rich in mythology, Homer wrote of her in his verses calling her the beautiful, golden goddess. Depending on the source, she was either the daughter of Zeus and Dione or she sprang from the foam of the sea. In early writings she was depicted as a soft, weak, unimposing goddess, but later she became a treacherous, spiteful goddess who exerted a destructive power over men.
Perhaps the most famous of her exploits were the events that led to the Trojan War. There was a contest to name the most beautiful of the goddesses. The choice was narrowed down to three: Juno, Pallas Athena and Aphrodite. Zeus was chosen to decide and intelligently declined, suggesting they ask a young shepherd, Paris, who he assured them, would be a fair judge. Paris was not asked to look upon the goddesses, but to choose the fairest by choosing which of their gifts he would accept. Juno offered to make him the ruler of Europe and Asia, Pallas Athena assured him he would lead the Trojans to victory over the Greeks and Aphrodite offered him the fairest woman in the world. He gave the golden apple of choice to Aphrodite and the goddess led him to Helen of Troy, the wife of Menelaus.
Adonis is another important figure in the mythology of Aphrodite. Smyrna, the daughter of King Cinyras of Cyprus, was rumored to be more beautiful than Aphrodite/Venus. Cinyras's wife bragged of her daughter's beauty and fired up the goddess's vengeful nature. Venus caused a spell to fall on Smyrna, who then fell in love with her own father, went to him while he was in a drunken stupor and became pregnant by him. When Cinyras found out what had happened, he pursued Smyrna to kill her and as he raised his sword to strike her, Aphrodite turned her into a myrrh tree. The tree was sliced in two and out fell Adonis.
Adonis was taken to Persephone (Queen of the Dead) to be raised and it turned out that both goddesses, Persephone and Aphrodite fell in love with Adonis and both wanted him for themselves. They asked the Muses to decide the fate of the situation and they declared that Adonis should spend one third of his time with Persephone, one third of his time with Aphrodite and one third of his time alone hunting in the hills. The dishonest side of Aphrodite emerged and she used her power to get Adonis to fall in love with her and stay with her rather than abide by the decision. In anger, Persephone told Aries/Mars and Aries disguised himself as a wild boar and challenged Adonis on the slopes of Mount Lebanon, where Adonis was gored to death in Aphrodite's sight. Aphrodite, still unwilling to let go of him, begged Zeus to intervene. He did and Adonis was allowed to spend one half of his time above ground and the other half in the underworld.
The story of Aphrodite/Venus is much like the story of the Sumerian goddess Ishtar, Queen of Love. She descended into the underworld to find the soul of her dead lover, Tammuz. As she journeys through the underworld, she is stripped of her glory by the guardians of Hell. When she comes before the Queen of the Dead, she is hung on a meat hook and left for dead. Eventually she is rescued by the will of the gods and made the Queen of Heaven.
The myth correlates to Venus as it travels through the heavens. As the morning star, Venus runs ahead to the sun as it goes through its earlier degrees of longitude. As it moves through superior conjunction with the Sun it becomes invisible (correlates to the underworld). Then Venus reappears as the Evening Star, moving through a later degree of zodiacal longitude than the sun.
The myth of Aphrodite/Venus and Adonis (Ishtar's Descent) is important because it represents a psychological process in a relationship. As the morning star, Venus is concerned with the love, the infatuation, rather than the relationship itself. These poeple, with prominent Venus tend to be impulsive and fall in love quickly. As we grow psychologically though the life experience process, maturity evolves. The evening star represents greater maturity. Maturity and the evening star are both more highly reflective. Maturity is more cautious and more aware of love's transformative process and in this state more able to keep a relationship together.
Venus (Aphrodite) was married to Vulcan (Hephaestus), the skilled artisan/craftsman who cared only for his work and possessed little capacity for holding up his end of a relationship. As a result of her being neglected by Vulcan, Venus looked for passion and physical love elsewhere and she found it with Mars (Aries). Mars adored Venus.
Venus is the planet of personal relationships, attitudes toward money, comforts and possessions and also determines sex appeal, creativity and social graces. Venus represents the woman's image of herself (the glyph is the hand held mirror) and in the man's chart it indicates the kind of woman he is attracted to.
A strong Venus bestows an eye for design and beauty, a knowledge of how to dress up and present yourself appealingly. Afflicted, Venus indicates a strong streak of conceitedness and lack of willpower.
As the goddess for love, Venus delighted in many sexual exploits. It must be remembered; however, that Venus and Mars were having an extramarital affair. Venus was not faithful to her lovers and she enjoyed the act of falling in love, but once a love relationship was established, the ability to maintain the relationship eluded her. The aspects Venus and Mars create between the charts of couples cannot be used to indicate marital stability. It is a gauge toward passion and attraction.
The desire for love, sex and relationships are the first social needs to emerge. It is Venus, the goddess of love, who is the guide to the deepest layers of the unconscious, the collective mind or world soul.
Venus also embodies the watery depths of deceit, as she lied to her lover to gain his attentions. When Venus appeared to Anchises she was dressed in red and anointed with oil and giving off a golden glow. She assured Anchises that she was a mortal woman.
As the traditional planet of Libra, the marriage sign, Venus is sometimes mistaken for the planet of love and marriage, but that really falls under the realm of Juno (Hera). In Libra, Venus is concerned with the interplay of opposites that exists in relationships. Venus is gentle and seeks the aggressive Mars. There is a tendency to seek out in the other person that which we feel we are lacking in character. Unfortunately, once we have that "opposite" attraction in a relationship, we immediately begin to work on changing that person. Stress and contention are a natural element in such relationships.
As the ruling planet of Taurus, Venus exudes raw sensuality, whose sole purpose is to enjoy the abundant earthiness of the physical world represented by nature and the body. Thus, she was sometimes known as Aphrodite Panderos, the patroness of common love. Prostitutes worshipped her as one of themselves under the name Aphrodite Porne or Aphrodite Hetaira.
Basically, Venus represents the principles of "I" of self-worth in Taurus, the "I" of "What do you think of me", in Libra.
Venus is easily the most beautiful of the goddesses, yet she needs constant validation. She is easily threatened by other beautiful women and exhibits a jealous, angry side. When mortals began talking about Psyche, whose beauty they said rivaled Aphrodite, the goddess condemned her to death. Psyche was rescued by Eros, Aphrodite's son. the Aphrodite/Eros/Psyche story is told in the Snow White fairy tale: Snow White is condemned to death by the queen when Snow White began to rival the queen for beauty. The handsome prince rescues her from death and they marry and live happily ever after. Eros and Psyche married and lived happily. Their union signifies the displacement of the mother as the most important female in a son's life with the elevation of the wife.
Venus is an intricate part of the natal chart. It is often said that it is almost impossible to understand the psyche of a woman. I suggest that if that is indeed true, then perhaps it only seems that way, because Venus is not an easily understood planet in the natal chart. With an understanding of Venus and Mars (coming in the next issue) it will be clearer why women are associated with Venus and men are associated with Mars.

Video of the week (normally on a Sunday...)

Late admittedly.

This video/ song is on the subject of medication, depression and self-perception. Now for the promised video, the song "Symptom finger" by The Faint.

Although not my personal taste in music, the message is there and more powerful than ever in the modern world.

The song tells us of how the medical companies and the professionals themselves who are supposed to help cure us are often just after the money. There is a lot of cash in the medical world, and money attracts the greedy. The prescription of certain drugs, operations and treatments is often not there for you, but for the business. 

Worldwide, children are prescribed drugs such as Ritalin and Concerta  when they may not need these medications. The media is often use to promote the use of such medications, most often anti-depressants and concentration aids. 

Many people these days don't realise that medical-usage drugs do still have very many negative side-effects, and that many times anti-depressants are not an easy way out so much as a long and problematic road that often does not help unless you are, clinically and chemically depressive.

Tuesday Irony & apologies.

Those of you aware of the passage of time will have noticed that Sunday and Monday updates have not been well... updated. I apologise for this. Internet problems on Sunday, and work and laziness and heat problems on Monday.

So without further procrastination... The irony of the week.

Lightning strikes twice...

First off, I would like to apologise for the lack of updates, my internet decided to go on strike. So here's my update that was originally planned for yesterday:

In both the literal and metaphorical senses, we can most certainly prove that lightning does strike twice.
Let's first take a look at the literal sense: Lightning is drawn between the ground and sky, or ground and magnetic field, by charges in the atmosphere and all the way up to the magnetic field of the earth. These form in certain areas more than others because of good conditions. The same can be said of the clouds which bring lightning, they will form very often in some areas, and never in others.

But now for the metaphorical sense. The thing I'm referring to most here is luck, or lack there of. We all have those days where all seems as it should and you find money every 10 minutes, and we all have those days, where it would only seem like an appropriate end if the sky actually fell.
And while some people can safely say they have won the lotto twice and, knowing their luck, just might win it again, others have had lives harder than many a normal person could imagine.
But in the end, no matter who you are, there will be bad days, but there will also be good days. Even in the darkest nights, it's possible to find a beacon of hope, even through the most bitter strife, we manage to cope.

So enjoy the good days as they come, and use your luck, and when it's just one of those days where all goes wrong, remember that soon enough, your lightning of luck will strike again.

The arts.

Very often, we can be quite pessimistic about the world. It's hard not to be in modern society, all major news resolves around some or other political controversy or a crisis of some kind. The modern media shows us only the bad, and our prospects for the future often seem grim.

But most people don't see that, despite what is happening, there is still much happiness and positivity in humanity. The natural world is still there to appreciate and there are still things keeping us from becoming totally nihilistic.

One of the reasons for this is that the positivity is never demonstrated in a way that most people notice, it's there if you look for it, but it requires so much more searching for than is needed to find the negative in the modern world.
And this is why we need the arts, they demonstrate that in humanity, there is talent and appreciation, inspiration and creativity. They can often bring the natural world to us in a more accessible form. Through paintings, sketchings, and yes, even photography (it's an art and a skill, one that takes a decent amount of skill) we see things that we would often not think about. The world around us or simply the thought patterns of an artist can be shown in an accessible and skilled form, letting the world see that there is still, something there worth keeping.

Astronomy: The planet Venus

As of now, Thursday is astronomy update day. And Today will be on Venus.

Venus:

Venus is the second planet from the sun. It is only marginally smaller than the Earth is, however it has a much thicker atmosphere which consists of poisonous gases such as Carbon dioxide and Sulphur, as well as some of the inert gas Nitrogen.
Venus's year lasts 227 Earth days.
It is the brightest object after the moon in the night sky and is called the Morning/ Evening Star as it is brightest just before dawn or just after dusk.

The name Venus comes from the Roman name for the Greek God of love and beauty, Aphrodite. The symbol for Venus comes from Venus's mirror, hence the circle (mirror face) with the cross (handle). This is also the symbol used to show that something is of a woman.

Venus is the hottest planet in the Solar system with a temperature of  460 °C. The temperature is the same all over the planet as the strong greenhouse effect traps and distributes heat all around the planet. 
The high temperature and high pressure combined mean that lava on the planet's surface often does not cool for very long periods of time and most volcanoes are relatively flat.
The high levels of greenhouse gases in Venus's atmosphere come from the fact that there is a lot of volcanic activity on the planet. 


On February the 12th, 1961, the Soviet's sent the first ever probe to another planet. The chosen destination was Venus and the probe's name Venera I. The Soviets also sent Venera 4, the first probe to relay data from within Venus's atmosphere.

I'd like to point out that...

I'm am odd but I do enjoy a good piece of laughter , I mean we can't all be so stuck up, boring, lifeless and dull. So what I do is add zest to my overboardly boring life by being well you guessed it, odd. There are many ways to add some of adventure to your life... I mean c'mon haven't you ever wondered if there is some kind of randectic (random +  hectic = randectic) moment that could change your life forever in a good way could happen?


I for one have hoped for it but it still hasn't come so what i do to past the time to make life a tad more exciting is by being mischevious and curious and such and being the general random. So I'm saying that if you feel like if your in a rut or ditch of some kind, no one is going to help you but yourself, so for sanity sake... make life more interesting and not the bad interesting like drama and problems, I mean like fun, something that just makes you want to jump out of bed every morning and say "YES ANOTHER DAY OF FUN!"


Soooooo do it for sanity sake because as you can see psycho237 and I have lost ours long ago in a galaxy far far away.

Sunny bays and trees painted purple...

Okay... hello my friendly little victims of advice and the need to read the blog, I need to blog today so what I'm blogging about is the weather  and my cockatiel and why I have random titles for my posts.


The weather is hot... yeah thats pretty much it... I could emphasize on it (okay you convinced me amy (my cockatiel is called amy)) Its soooo hot I would rather breath in random gases hoping I would reach to a lower body temperature. Or I would release gases (like that really cold gas... what is it called hmmmmm liquid nitrogen?) I one day hope to conquer the sun with my cockatiel at my side and a pair of gumboots on my feet.


Now to the cockatiel... She is called Amy.... Psycho237 will refer to her as a parrot... and he is a hidden dino under that bitchy (excuse my language) exterior.


Now to my random blog titles... I post them to make my post sound interesting like.. well you figure it out you lazy readers... !

Mental blocks and facing adversity.

We all have them. We all dislike them at work and school when what we are doing is important. They come at the most inopportune moments and they can leave you pondering and staring at the walls for hours. They can be set on by stress or just occur randomly.

But we all have to somehow live past the complete gridlock of the mind as it goes on strike and demands more chocolate. For instance me, today, right now. That's the very reason I brought it up. These are trivial things however, and it's time to look at the harsher side of this coin.

There are also Mental blocks of a more sever kind: being in situations that you don't know how to get through. Time tests us all and sometimes, sometimes you just don't know how to do it. There just seems to be no way out.

But luckily, both kinds can be overcome.
For the first kind, more power-aid, sleep and a less interesting wall will work nicely.

But then we come to type two: These can be a serious problem. Simply trying to find ways out of a current situation can seem as daunting as the problem itself. The mind refuses to think straight, stress builds up and it just seems hopeless. But it never is. No matter what. First thing first, distract yourself. Have a snack, sleep, give your mind time to focus. Then, get a second opinion, always speak to someone else first, find a good confidant. Then think through what you have to say or do.

There is no point in rushing, rushing causes mistakes and sometimes these can have serious repercussions. Don't think if you can't think straight, and wait until you can.

So whatever stress or obstacle it is that lies ahead of you, don't worry, all things can be overcome. Stay well, think well and have peace and clarity of mind, good by and I'll update soon.

When I said many new features, I meant it. And to keep this short and sweet, I will use a picture, so you can go through the thousand words at your own pace.
