Humanity Monday: What we've done right

I am starting Yet another daily feature (watch this week, I'm gonna have many new features). The new feature is humanity Monday. I will be discussing some aspect of human society in these posts, be it our history, politics, or just human nature and our impact on the world.

Today's Humanity Monday topic is... What we've done right

Human history is violent, turbulent and cruel at best. Our impact on the environment not the greatest. But we aren't all bad, just take a look at friends and family, maybe even just random people and you realise that there is good in everyone.

We have managed to build many cities and have learnt more than any other animal species could ever hope to. We have created a social network connecting the whole world (you're on it right now) and the majority of our species lives in relative peace. We have managed to increase the average lifespan twofold since the dawn of society and are learning to conserve the natural world.

We have also created philosophy, learning, culture and made the world, to say the least, a more interesting place.

And after all, we live in a damn awesome world and we would be wise to keep it that way. The natural beauty of things has managed to be captured and expressed through the arts and maintained by ecologists and those bright and good enough to do their little part for the environment. While there are problems, today's focus is on the positive, and there is no better way to conclude talk of the good in the world and the people who inhabit it than this:
